Our mission is providing safe, loving homes for children in need by connecting South Carolina churches and christian families with community partners while inspiring, encouraging and resourcing the vulnerable and those who care for them.
We offer programs that nurture, support and strengthen the children, families and caregivers we serve as they move forward in their journey involving fostering and adoption. It is our goal for every South Carolina child to have a safe, loving christian home.
Through focusing on 6 key areas:
  • Recruiting christian foster and adoptive families for children in need.
  • Increasing community awareness regarding the significance of issues related to child welfare in our state.
  • Supporting children who age out of the foster care system through mentoring and providing resources.
  • Encouraging, supporting and providing resources to foster and adoptive families.
  • Building on the well established relationship with South Carolina's Department of Social Services (DSS) to position A Home for Me to effectively serve as a liaison between the agency and upstate churches who desire to initiate foster/adoption care programs.
  • Guiding churches who wish to establish foster/adoption care ministries by providing a model and resources to do so; actively recruiting and encouraging these congregations.
No. A Home for Me is not part of DSS but many of the children we serve are in the foster care system. We value our close relationship with DSS and strive to strengthen collaborations between the agency and local churches for the benefit of SC children and families.
No. A Home for Me is not the recipient of any state funding. The majority of funding for the organization is provided through individual, church and corporate donors, grants and fundraising events and activities.
A Home for Me works with a variety of christian churches who are striving to do their part to fulfill a Biblical directive to"...take up the cause of the fatherless..." Isaiah 1:17.
The simple answer is, we are the Church, which is God’s answer to the orphan crisis. Although we are not an agency, we have an experienced and passionate team that is committed to educating, equipping, and empowering families in the area of orphan care and adoption. Most of us on the "A Home for Me" team have personal experiences with foster care and adoption, both locally and internationally.

We are happy to guide you to an area of ministry/service where your time and talents can be best utilized for His Kingdom's work. You don’t have to adopt a child or go on a mission trip to help. There are plenty of opportunities for everyone to serve in some way.
Potential individual and group volunteers are encouraged to contact our staff at (864) 254-8115. We will set up a time to talk to you about how you or your group can get involved. We are always in need of compassionate and committed volunteers.
While A Home for Me is not a licensing agency we do provide an ongoing schedule of valuable training for families interested in fostering and adopting and make referrals to those organizations who do provide licensing programs. We are committed to educating, equipping, and empowering families in the area of foster care and adoption and assisting christian families as they seek to learn about various adoption options.
